WQXR Celebrates PRIDE

Celebrate PRIDE! This concert hosted by pianist Sara Davis Buechner will feature musicians from the LGBTQ+ classical music community including members of ChamberQUEER, highlights from the operas of life partners and composers Mark Adamo and John Corigliano, and a performance from “sublime” (BBC Music Magazine) violist Jesus Rodolfo.

The New York Times has praised pianist Sara Davis Buechner for her “intelligence, integrity and all-encompassing technical prowess.” Earlier in her career she won a Bronze Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and was a Gold Medalist at the Gina Bauchauer International Piano Competition. She’s performed in every state and province of North America and has soloed with the nation’s top orchestras including: the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and Philadelphia Orchestra. Buechner performs regularly in Asia including solo performances with the Sydney Symphony, New Zealand Philharmonic, and the New Japan Philharmonic. She has released several recordings highlighting the work lesser-known piano works by Dana Suesse, Joaquin Turina, Joseph Lamb, and others.
Ms. Buechner is a proud transgender woman who often appears as a speaker at LGBTQ events and has written articles and conducted many interviews about her own experiences.
