WQXR Presents Welcome, Berliner Philharmoniker
The Varian Fry Quartet performs live in The Greene Space
In advance of Berliner Philharmoniker’s kick-off to the new season at Carnegie Hall, WQXR hosted an exclusive event in The Greene Space Sept. 30 featuring special previews and a performance by the Varian Fry Quartet – all members of the orchestra.
Hosted by WQXR’s Jeff Spurgeon, the evening was a preview of the orchestra’s upcoming New York concerts, its recent CD and DVD releases of Schumann and Bach, and WQXR’s own exclusive radio series featuring never-before-available broadcasts by the Berliner Philharmoniker. The string quartet performed music of Haydn and Schubert.
