WQXR welcomed superstar tenor Juan Diego Flórez to The Greene Space on Sunday, May 4 – his only New York solo appearance this season.
Flórez is acclaimed for his performances of the leading bel canto tenor roles of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini, as well as Verdi, Puccini, Gluck, and Mozart. Now, he tackles the French repertoire in his new CD L’Amour, his first solo album in four years.
During his rare solo show at The Greene Space, he performed arias from the album and talked with Operavore’s Naomi Lewin about what it’s like to be the Prince Charming to Joyce DiDonato’s Cinderella in The Metropolitan Opera’s performances of Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
