New York City public high school students filled The Greene Space with beautiful music on July 24, 2014, playing a free concert with instruments donated in last spring’s WQXR Instrument Drive.
The young musicians were from the Department of Education’s Summer Arts Institute, a tuition-free intensive arts program for students entering grades 8-12. The concert was a celebration of both the orchestra’s musical talents and the generosity of the thousands of listeners who donated instruments to the drive. The event was hosted by WQXR’s Jeff Spurgeon.
