WQXR's 'Classical Music Unfiltered' conversation in The Greene Space

As another concert season wraps in classical music, WQXR presented a lively, thoughtful and humorous look back at the year’s highs and lows live in The Greene Space on June 23.

In this 2014-15 round-up, panelists covered a range of topics, including the financial and labor challenges that roiled the Metropolitan Opera and elsewhere; got predictions on conductor searches at major orchestras; considered political activism among artists; and debated how social media has made musicians more unfiltered – yielding both risks and rewards.

Guests included Justin Davidson, the Pulitzer Prize-winning classical music and architecture critic of New York magazine; Lara St. John, the concert violinist and label owner; Ben Finane, editor in chief of Listen magazine; and Vivien Schweitzer, a freelance journalist and music critic for the New York Times. WQXR General Manager Graham Parker hosted.
