Grammy-nominated mandolinist Avi Avital returned to The Greene Space on March 12 for a sold out evening of Vivaldi and more. Joining him were members of the acclaimed Venice Baroque Orchestra, who Avital features on “Vivaldi,” his new album. Avi Avital spoke with WQXR’s Annie Bergen about the mandolin’s Baroque heyday, and how he composes and adapts music for the mandolin.
