WQXR Live with Conrad Tao

WQXR broadcast live from our stage with rising star pianist Conrad Tao, described as “ferociously talented” by Time Out New York and  a musician of “probing intellect and open-hearted vision” by The New York Times. The performance was part of 24@44 - our 24-hour marathon celebrating our 10th anniversary.

Bach: Sonata No. 3 in C major, BWV 1005: III. Largo

Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Op. 31, No. 2 “Tempest”

Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 18 in E-Flat Major, Op. 31, No. 3 “The Hunt”

Chopin: Prelude Op. 28, No. 15 & No. 16

Conrad Tao was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 2011, and the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts awarded him a YoungArts gold medal in music. Tao was also named a Gilmore Young Artist, an honor awarded every two years highlighting the most promising American pianists of the new generation. In May of 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, and in 2018 was named a Lincoln Center Emerging Artist.
