WQXR Celebrates Sir James Galway at 75
Sir James Galway celebrates his 75th birthday live in The Greene Space
WQXR presented an evening of performance and conversation with Sir James Galway and friends, in honor of the legendary flutist’s 75th birthday.
Special guests included American traditional music stars Jay Ungar (fiddle) and Molly Mason (guitar), famed for their soundtrack to Ken Burns’ PBS documentary The Civil War; the Galway Chamber Players, who performed traditional Irish favorites and music of Bach; and young flutists from the Special Music School at the Kaufman Music Center. They were, of course, joined by Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway. The evening was hosted by WQXR’s Jeff Spurgeon.
