Q2 Music launches the new podcast, 'Meet the Composer' with host Nadia Sirota and a star-studded lineup

Q2 Music launched its new podcast with a party in The Greene Space on June 24, 2013, hosted by Nadia Sirota and featuring a star-studded array of award-winning performers.

Funded recently by a successful Kickstarter campaign, “Meet the Composer” mines the brains of today’s most exciting composers. Equal parts interview, expert commentary and compelling sound design, the podcast brings the music and stories of today’s composers to life with passion, curiosity and humor. Q2’s launch party featured on-stage interviews with all five Season 1 composers, who happen to include the two most recent Pulitzer Prize winners, John Luther Adams (2014) and Caroline Shaw (2013), as well as fellow innovators Andrew Norman; Marcos Balter; and, via Skype from Ireland, Donnacha Dennehy.

The event also included flutist and International Contemporary Ensemble artistic director Claire Chase, who performed Balter’s Pessoa; Hotel Elefant performing Adams’s Red Arc/Blue Veil; Attacca String Quartet performing excerpts from Norman’s Peculiar Strokes; Cellist Hannah Collins performing Shaw’s in manus tuas; and Bang on a Can All-Star pianist Vicky Chow, cellist Ashley Bathgate and violinist Todd Reynolds performing Dennehy’s Bulb.
