Noche Buena
Food for Thought | Presented by The Greene Space x MoFAD
Originally Aired: Wednesday, December 16, 2020
This holiday season, join us and MoFAD for a virtual celebration of Filipinx (Filipino) food and traditions.
Learn how to make two kinds of pancit, a popular noodle dish that is highly flexible and traditionally eaten during celebratory events such as Noche Buena, the Filipino Christmas Eve feast. During a cooking demo, chef Jenn de la Vega will share her mother’s family recipe for a pancit with seafood and meat and chef Woldy Reyes‘s more contemporary vegan pancit recipe.
After the demo, the chefs will be joined by VICE staff writer Bettina Makalintal and Ria Dolly Barbosa, chef of Petite Paso in Los Angeles, for a conversation about Filipinx holiday food traditions, memories and identity.
And we’ll close out the evening with a little music in the spirit of the Filipino holiday tradition of Karaoke.
We’ve partnered with Filipino Online Grocery, Tindahan Ni Luz to create a box of shelf-stable pantry ingredients so you can cook along with Jenn and Woldy at home.
Order your tickets by December 9th to add-on this ingredient box and get it shipped directly to your door (US residents only).
The Noche Buena box includes:
• Super Golden Bihon (Filipino cornstarch-based noodles)
• Datu Puti Vinegar
• Datu Puti Soy Sauce
• Chicken Bouillon
• Oyster Sauce
• Fried Garlic
RSVP to receive a link to the live event.
Tickets are available at three levels:
