Each edition of her residency at The Greene Space will feature a unique lineup, curated by Madison herself. In addition to performances and intimate conversations, each show will be preceded by a happy hour featuring live DJ sets and artisanal crafts by artists of color for sale.
This edition features comedy by Lorelei Ramirez, slam poetry by Urban Word NYC, music by soul singer duendita, and a live set by DJ Reborn before the event!
Based in Brooklyn, Madison McFerrin’s unique sound has been described by Questlove as “soul-appella.” NPR described her as “a singer-songwriter on the rise” and Pitchfork Magazine declared “McFerrin is making a cappella cool again.” Her one-of-a-kind vocals can be heard in episodes of Comedy Central’s Broad City and HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness. Her residency coincides with the launch of her new EP You and I, out November 5th, along with a North American tour November 21st through December 3rd.
The Greene Space announces its 2019 Fall and Winter Artist in Residence: Madison McFerrin. Madison is an independent singer-songwriter whose enthralling and unique sound has garnered much acclaim, with Questlove characterizing it as a formidable “soulappella.” She joins us to present her special project, The Sissieretta Series, inspired by 19th century soprano Sissieretta Jones and her innovative productions, that showcased her unique vocals and her friends’ talents.
McFerrin will convene local performers, artisans, creatives and vendors, specifically highlighting women of color. Each show will be preceded by a happy hour featuring live DJ sets and artisanal crafts for sale.
