Renowned chefs Jacques Pépin and Michel Nischan will go head to head in a cook-off – with only hot plates and cookware at their disposal – to prove that one can indeed prepare a satisfying—gourmet, even—dish using the most limited, elementary kitchen equipment. Culinary personality and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich will serve as judge, and select audience members will be invited to taste the chefs’ creations.

Aldo Sohm, chief sommelier at the Michelin three-starred restaurant Le Bernardin, will present a blind taste test to see how easy—or difficult!—it is to identify red versus white wines when eyes are closed. In a unique twist, Sohm will blindfold himself and other volunteers from the audience to see who can best distinguish an inexpensive, quality red from an expensive, popular red wine.
