Ever since winning Junior First Prize at the Menuhin Competition 2010, Kerson Leong has been called “Canada’s next great violinist” (Ludwig van Toronto) and has astonished fellow musicians and audiences with his unique mastery of his instrument, a natural command over the subtlest of emotions, and the colossal scope of his performances.
Kerson has played in some of the most prestigious venues around the world from Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and the Auditorium du Louvre to Wigmore Hall and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Recent highlights include his tenure as Artist-in-Residence with the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montreal under Yannick Nezet-Seguin for the 2018/2019 season. Already a sought-after soloist, he has performed with such ensembles as the Royal, Oslo, Royal Liège, and Kansai Philharmonic Orchestras, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Stavanger, Wuppertal, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Quebec, and Stockton Symphony Orchestras, the Orchestre National de Lorraine, and the Orchestra Gulbenkian.
Kerson is an associated artist of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium. Music outreach and teaching are growing passions for Kerson, having taught at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki among others.
