Single in New York: Women’s Stories

Friday June 22 2012 • 7:00pm - 7:00pm ET
In-person event

Overview

Single – by choice or by circumstance. There’s never been a better time or a better place than New York to live solo. Recent census data tell us there are more never-married women in New York than any other city in the States. Still, stigmas and stereotypes persist. Let’s talk about it! WNYC is hosting an evening of entertainment, provocative conversation and an open mic in The Greene Space so we can hear from you. Come share your thoughts about being single and all that can mean – for you and for New York.

Guests include: stand-up comediennes, Desiree Burch and Negin Farsad; and Moth StorySLAM winner and humor writer, Diana Spechler. Soundcheck’s Caryn Havlik will DJ before, during and after the event. There will be an online survey from Dr. Bella DePaulo, a sociologist and author of Singled Out.

WNYC’s Ailsa Chang and WQXR’s Terrance McKnight will host.
