New Sounds: Mike Doughty’s Ghost of Vroom
Clay Patrick McBride
Mike Doughty isn’t dead—he’s become a ghost. Enter Ghost of Vroom, the veteran singer-songwriter’s new band with bassist and longtime collaborator Andrew “Scrap” Livingston. The project melds of-the-moment lyrics written in isolation with a beat-driven, hip-hop influenced sound.
Doughty and Livingston sit down with New Sounds’ John Schaefer for a live interview about the duo’s new project and Doughty’s genre-defying career. Plus, an intimate performance from Doughty’s home in Memphis and the world premiere of their new music video “Chief of Police.”
