Morning Meditations: Beginner’s Ear

Start your day with our encore stream of WQXR’s guided meditation series, below, created and hosted by New York Times contributing critic Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim.
Beginner’s Ear brings you closer to the music by opening the mind to both silence and sound. Each 60-minute session begins with a mindfulness teacher leading participants in a 15-minute guided meditation. Out of the resulting deep stillness, a 30-minute musical performance emerges and recedes back into the rich calm. The event wraps with a short conversation about aspects of mindful listening.
In this session, acclaimed pianist Taka Kigawa will transport you on a sonic journey anchored by Debussy, Chopin and Bach. A short conversation on aspects of mindful listening will conclude the event, leaving you feeling re-centered and inspired. The meditation is led by Thomas Droge, founder of the Pathfinder Institute.
This event originally aired on January 17, 2020.
