A Photographic Composition

Friday July 23 2010 • 12:00am - 12:00am ET
In-person event

A quiet zone in Bryant Park on 42nd Street?

Overview

Submit your artwork here by Friday, July 23, 2010 at 11:59 pm and your work will become a part of the digital photographic exhibition that will run the entire month of August 2010, projected in the store front windows of The Greene Space; seen by up to 3 million people en route to the Holland Tunnel each month.  Up to twenty (20) pieces will be selected by a panel of judges to be put on display in a year-long exhibition in The Greene Space–a great way to show off your work—from August 2010 to August 2011.

Project Invisibility was made possible through the generous support of MetLife Foundation.

GUIDELINES FOR PHOTOGRAPHS:  Pieces will be reviewed with an eye to how the artist has chosen to best reflect the theme of “Making Visible the Invisible: A Photographic Score”.

All photographs will be reviewed; finalists will be put on flickr. Photographs will be part of a temporary exhibition and not for purchase.

HOW TO ENTER: Follow this link, fill out the form and upload up to ten (10) digital files of your photographs. Please make sure that each entry is labeled with your full name and photo title.  All entries must be received by 11:59 pm, Friday, July 23, 2010.

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone at least 18 years of age or older, per the date of your submission, can respond to the call for photographs.  No employees of WNYC, their immediate family or persons living in the same household are eligible for participation.  Making Visible the Invisible Call for Photographs is open to any United States resident, but the focus is New York-centric.  There is a limit of ten (10) entries per person.

PRIZE:  WNYC will feature up to twenty (20) selected works in The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, but one artistic work – the winner – will be selected to be displayed in a high-profile location.  In addition, the photographers of the selected works will be invited to the opening of the exhibition at The Greene Space.   Judging will be done by a panel of artists and curators based on originality, composition and a spirit of experimentation and innovation.  The judges’ decisions will be final.

GENERAL:  By participating in the WNYC The Greene Space’s Making Visible the Invisible photographic exhibition, participants agree to the official rules, and that WNYC, its agents and employees will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from their use or participation in the call for art.  Prize is nontransferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.  There can be no substitutions for a prize of equal or greater value.  Participants will submit only original work.  Copyright for the entries will remain solely with the photographers, though by entering this call for art you are giving WNYC permission to use your entry on the website and in The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space.  Winner’s names may be used for publicity purposes without further compensation.

RESTRICTIONS: Restrictions may apply.  By participating in WNYC The Greene Space’s Making Visible the Invisible Photographic Exhibition, a participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and by all decisions of the panel.

NOTICE:  WNYC Radio, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the Website or otherwise in violation of the rules.  It further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any contest not capable of completion as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.
