Overview

The exhibit is curated and produced by Danny Simmons and Brian Tate. Simmons is a painter, poet, novelist, philanthropist, and gallery owner, as well as creator of HBO’s Def Poetry, and co-founder/Vice Chair of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. Tate is a marketing strategist, singer-songwriter, and event producer, as well as creator/co-founder of the Brooklyn New Music Festival, the Dark Harvest Film Festival, the Postmillennial Black Madonna exhibition, and the Full Spectrum panel discussion series.

Featuring work by Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels (Manhattan), Amir Bey (Bronx), Domenick Di Pietrantonio (Queens), Paul Jansen (Manhattan), Chanel Kennebrew (Brooklyn), Jason Lewis (Brooklyn), Carol Pereira (Queens), Ann Marie McDonnell (Staten Island), Miguel Angel Ruiz (Bronx), Martha Trivizas (Staten Island).

Curatorial Advisors:
Naomi Beckwith (Manhattan), Carrie Cooperider (Staten Island), Heng-Gil Hahn (Queens), Diana McClure (Brooklyn), and Helene Ruiz (Bronx).
