HBR@Work: Boost Your Emotional Intelligence − Or Someone Else’s

Monday April 3 2017 • 7:00pm - 8:30pm ET
In-person event

Overview

Among the various ingredients of career success, few personal qualities have received more attention in the past decade than emotional intelligence (EQ), the ability to identify and manage your own and others’ emotions.

In fact, thousands of academic studies have demonstrated the predictive power of EQ when it comes to job performance, leadership potential, entrepreneurship and employability. Higher EQ scores have also been associated with relationship success, mental and physical health and happiness.

All of this is good news for people with higher EQ. But what can everyone else do to improve their intrapersonal and interpersonal skills?

Join Harvard Business Review Senior Editor Sarah Green Carmichael and contributor and business psychologist Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic as he shares practical strategies to increase your own EQ, and to help others act with EQ even when they are not naturally inclined to do so.

About the Speakers

Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, PhD, is the CEO of Hogan Assessment Systems, a Professor of Business Psychology at University College London, and a faculty member at Columbia University. His most recent book is The Talent Delusion.

Sarah Green Carmichael is Senior Editor at Harvard Business Review and host of the HBR IdeaCast.
