Overview

Join Alison Stewart, host of WNYC’s All of It, for the next installment in her monthly book club series with bestselling author Jacqueline Woodson for a discussion of her new book, Red at the Bone.

In the novel, an unexpected teenage pregnancy pulls together two families from different social classes, and exposes the private hopes, disappointments, and longings that can bind or divide us from each other.

Get to know Woodson and ask her your burning questions about the novel. With a performance by Ezinma.

Buy a ticket for yourself and read along with Alison and Team All of It, or buy a table and get your whole book club to come along!

Jacqueline Woodson is the bestselling author of more than two dozen award-winning books including the 2016 New York Times-bestselling, National Book Award finalist for adult fiction, Another Brooklyn. Among her many accolades, Woodson is a four-time National Book Award finalist, a four-time Newbery Honor winner, and a two-time Coretta Scott King Award Winner. Her New York Times-bestselling memoir, Brown Girl Dreaming, received the National Book Award in 2014. Woodson is also the 2018-2019 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, and recipient of the 2018 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and the 2018 Children’s Literature Legacy Award. In 2015, she was named the Young People’s Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation. She lives with her family in New York.

Join Alison Stewart, host of WNYC’s All of It, alongside bestselling authors and fellow book lovers on the air, online and in person for this monthly book club series. We’ll read books, share our progress on Instagram and gather for monthly evenings in The Greene Space with Alison and a marquee author. You’ll have the opportunity to spend some time with the author and ask your burning questions about the novel. We’ll also hear about some of the other big books of the season from the novelist Emma Straub, owner of the Books Are Magic bookshop in Brooklyn.

Ezinma is a Nebraskan born from a Guyanese father and a German-American mother. She just signed with Universal Music Group. Her mixed cultural and ethnic background influenced her musical upbringing and helped mold her into the versatile artist she is today. While classical music will always be a passion for Ezinma, she felt a strong need to present the world with a different side of her and has collaborated with jazz, R&B, pop, hip hop and electronic artists such as Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Mac Miller, and Clean Bandit.
