WQXR presents drag performance artist and violinist Thorgy Thor! Come enjoy an evening of laughter, music, and campy fun as we start off the new year and do a mental health check-in!
If you’re a fan of Thorgy Thor, we may entice you to fall in love with classical music. And if you’re a fan of WQXR and classical music, come see a show that will break all of the standard concert protocols!
We’ll have musical guests, games, drinks, and more than a few surprises. Haydn and Mozart knew how to wear a wig, and Thorgy Thor will take that look a few high-heeled steps further!

Guest host Thorgy Thor is an NYC based drag performance artist, professional musician and TV host. She was a contestant on the Emmy Award-winning show RuPaul’s Drag Race and has appeared in Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle, VICE, WWHL with Andy Cohen, and is a cast member of Dragnificent! on TLC/Hulu. She is a multi instrumentalist, playing violin, viola and cello in Thorgy and the Thorchestra! She’s done shows with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Nova Scotia, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.

Lucy Dhegrae has been called an “adventurous mezzo-soprano” and raconteur” by The New Yorker magazine. The New York Times praises her “vocal versatility and omnivorous curiosity.” Dhegrae has worked closely with many contemporary composers and is known for pushing boundaries and reinventing what classical music can be.

Zlatomir Fung is the first American in 40 years and the youngest musician ever to win First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in the Cello Division. He’s also a recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship among many other recognitions.

Dr. Monica Johnson is a clinical psychologist and owner of Kind Mind Psychology, a private practice in NYC that specializes in evidenced based approaches to treating a wide range of mental health issues (e.g. depression, anxiety, trauma, and personality disorders). Additionally, she has a focus on working with marginalized groups of people including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and alternative lifestyles to manage minority stress. She is also a speaker, trainer, supervisor, and writer. She is the host of the podcast Savvy Psychologist where she provides practical tips about mental health.

Isabel Hagen is a stand-up comedian and classically trained violist with a Bachelors and Masters degree from the Juilliard School. Her comedy career has led her to be featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and as a New Face of Comedy at the Just for Laughs festival in Montréal. She sometimes combines the two on her series IS A VIOLIST on YouTube.
