Heart, Strings: Dessa with the Argus Quartet and Matthew Santos
Writer and musician Dessa takes stage with the Argus Quartet, Grammy-nominated vocalist Matthew Santos and WNYC’s New Sounds host John Schaefer for an evening of performance, conversation and some unscripted nonsense.
This year Dessa (who cut her teeth as a rapper in the Doomtree crew) recorded a live album with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra; the collaborative project is titled Sound the Bells: Recorded Live at Orchestra Hall. Tonight’s show explores the unlikely friendship forged between an indie rapper and world class-symphonic orchestra. Expect moving string arrangements, writerly lyrics, funny stories and a chance to see the gears turning on an unusual creative process.
The Spirio by Steinway & Sons is the official piano of The Greene Space.
